To improve this situation, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has announced a plan, which starts in 2023, providing ‘parents’ wages’ to households with children aged from 0 to 1 on the monthly basis to improve the child-raising environment. Considering the situation of South Korean society having to deal with the aging population and low fertility rate, it is easy to predict policies that help creating ‘young families’ will be developed continuously. December 12th, the EU(European Union) has agreed to introduce CBAM(Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), which imposes Carbon Border Tax on imported goods. This news gives us food for thought on the efforts of people all around the world to reduce carbon emissions to protect the Earth. However, since steel is applied to CBAM, which is one of South Korea’s main export items to the EU, we cannot help but think of the grim prospect for the South Korean steel industry as well.
