January marks the start of the new year, a period of high demand for images. There is also increasing demand for new content that reflects the trends of 2026. Below is a shooting request list that incorporates client needs and the latest trends.

[New Year: Fresh Beginnings and Hope]

New Year images are in highest demand for greeting cards, events, advertisements, and other media that convey wishes for a prosperous year and hopeful beginnings. Capture the excitement and anticipation of the new year.

Key Keywords: 2026, Year of the Red Horse, New Year, New Year’s resolutions, hope, cleaning, new plans

Concept Points:

  • Top-down shots of neatly arranged tteokguk (rice cake soup) and other holiday dishes.

  • Writing New Year’s resolutions on a notebook or tablet.

  • Scenes of starting exercise routines such as yoga or gym workouts.

  • Self-development activities like reading or online courses.

  • Lifestyle shots representing “new beginnings,” e.g., tidy homes or desks.

  • Incorporate texts like “2026” or “Happy New Year” with objects for easier post-production compositing.

[Occupation-Specific Images: Professionalism and Diversity]

Images highlighting expertise in various industries remain a steady choice for marketing, public institutions, and recruitment. Reflect future-oriented but realistic atmospheres with images that appear close to actual work scenarios.

Recommended Occupations:

  • Clinical Dietitian: Checking diets, calorie analysis with ingredients, inspecting kitchens (using uniforms and gloves), nutrition analysis via tablet/AI, checking ingredient quality with smart sensors.

  • Counselor (medical, psychological, educational fields): Consultation scenes, filling out forms (with template props), remote counseling, testing scenes with smart devices.

  • Caregiver: Assisting elderly with mobility, meals, hygiene, using robotic assistance.

  • Interior Designer: Reviewing blueprints, inspecting cafes, homes, offices, comparing materials and color samples, visualizing spaces with AR/VR, using smart devices.

  • AI Developer / Software Engineer: Code review, team collaboration, using AI assistants.

  • Smart Cafe / Retail Manager: Customer service, product arrangement, mobile/table ordering, smart inventory management.

Shooting Tips:

  • Use uniforms, tools, and devices to create realistic work environments.

  • Direct expressions, postures, and actions naturally as in real work.

  • Prefer backgrounds resembling actual workspaces.

[Seoul Project: Capturing the New Era of Seoul]

Today’s Seoul is experiencing the peak of K-culture, with AI and smart infrastructure integrated into everyday life. Documenting Seoul’s dynamic transformation is not just photography—it’s a vital historical record.

January Theme: "Past and Future of Seoul, Dramatic Contrast"Capture unique, in-depth images beyond typical tourist spots, reflecting New-Tro aesthetics and trendy lifestyles.

1. Hipjiro: Intersection of Neon and Retro

Euljiro’s back alleys, known as “Hipjiro,” feature trendy bars, cafes, and restaurants tucked into industrial facilities, creating a distinctive atmosphere. Capture the coexistence of Seoul’s industrial past and youth trends.

Shooting Points:

  • Detail Close-Ups: Highlight vintage, industrial objects like old printing machines, worn tools, and hardware store props without overcrowding the frame.

  • Aesthetic of Coexistence: Emphasize contrast between old industrial alleys and modern neon signs. Capture reflections and lighting effects naturally.

  • Time of Day: Shoot around sunset or dusk, when lights begin to glow, to create a dramatic effect.

2. Seongsu-dong: Coexistence of Industrial Heritage and Trendy Future

Seongsu-dong’s old factories have transformed into cultural complexes, boutiques, and cafes. Capture the coexistence of brick buildings with young, trendy lifestyles and dynamic urban flow, including subway lines.

Shooting Points:

  • Texture of Streets: Close-up shots of pavements, aged walls, and industrial details. Focus on the environment rather than specific buildings.

  • Trendy Figures in Motion: Capture stylishly dressed young people walking through old backgrounds. Use side or back views to keep them unidentifiable.

  • Urban Flow: Use slow shutter for moving trains, cars, and people to contrast static, aged backgrounds.

  • Color Contrast: Contrast muted brick and rusty metal tones with neon lights and bright screens from trendy shops.

<Shooting Precautions>

  • Avoid showing identifiable faces or specific household entrances/interiors in dense residential areas.

  • In alley shots, avoid recognizable faces; ideally, shoot when the area is empty.

  • Removing People: For crowded locations, use a tripod to take multiple shots of the same scene and remove moving people in post-production for clean backgrounds.

<Submission Guidelines>

  • Minimize identifiable people: Without model releases, submissions with recognizable individuals cannot be used commercially. In crowded shots, people should appear small or blurred enough to be unidentifiable.

  • Property Releases: Obtain commercial-use permission for visible signage, buildings, or business names.

  • Property Handling: If obtaining releases is difficult, blur, delete, or mosaic signage, phone numbers, logos, or brands. Replace with general words like Cafe / Store / Shop. Ensure post-processing does not compromise the natural look.

  • Always include the location name when uploading images.
